Apart from that at times pets can be affected by pests they are a good companion and most people love to keep them in their homes. These pets are affected by pests depending on the season and place that one lives. Some of the pests that will affect the pets are fleas which actually can be a big problem. In warmer climates fleas can be a concern all year long. Usually they are a concern for the pets and the family health. In some colder areas the pests can give someone together with their pets a resting time but that does not mean that they will not be back. During the warmer season they will actually be back since they will always for their next homes during such times.
Fleas cause a lot of health concerns for the pets which include; flea allergy dermatitis, anemia and many more. Flea allergy dermatitis is a very common skin disease in pets such as cats and dogs which is associated with flea bites. In the pets the skin disease causes a lot of itching and scratching which in turn leads to hair loss. Also associated with flea bites on the other hand is anemia. Signs of anemia in an animal can be; weariness, pale skin, chills and shortness of breath. By avoiding the pets from full infestation from the flea maybe during peak seasons can help in achieving a lasting impact towards the animals’ health and happiness. The signs that one’s pet has fleas infestations can be noticeable skin problems such as hair loss, hot spots and rashes. If the pet suffers from serious allergic reactions the saliva from fleas can cause this. A common sign of fleas in any animal this usually is.
Flea dirt can result to black peppered spots on the fur or the skin of the animal. Flea waste and blood that develops as the pests sucks blood out of the pets combination is the flea dirt. Flea dirt will leave a brownish-red stain if one passes a moist towel over it and therefore if a person is not sure whether the spots are flea dirt they can pass a moist towel over it. That an animal is infested with fleas the other sign is excessive chewing and scratching. An itching sensation on the animal is caused by the saliva that is secreted by the fleas which results to a lot of scratching. The skin of the animal can be caused by scratching to get injuries and have wounds and also can cause flea allergy dermatitis and other secondary bacterial skin infections because of the open wounds.
